39 - Power Of Intent

A young man used to attend to Mama. He was not interested in studies. He enjoyed meditating God. He had only one desire -to please Mama. Mama was also happy with his service. As soon as the exams were over, he was present to attend to Mama. Mama assigned him some work. Mama noticed that he was not paying proper attention to the work. Mama asked, ‘Where are you lost? Your mind is somewhere else. You look worried.' The young man agreed, ‘Yes Mama, I was lost in thoughts.' Mama inquired, ‘Is there any problem? Please, tell me.’ The young man confessed, ‘Mama, it was my final year in college. Exams are over. I am worried if I would pass the exams.'

Mama asked, ‘Why? Haven’t you written your exams properly?' The young man looked down and replied, ‘Mama, I do not find studies very interesting. I enjoy meditating God. I feel happy to be with you and work here.' Mama adviced, ‘The way you are enthusiastic in selfless service, similarly you must study with the same zeal. Education is very important in life. If you do not study properly you will not get proper job. It would be difficult to fulfill your worldly responsibilities without proper earnings.' The youth fell down at the feet of Mama. He spoke, ‘If I fail the exams, one more year I will have to study the same syllabus, which I do not enjoy. Please, give me some solution. You are my saviour. I surrender to you.' Mama said, ‘You are a true devotee of God. You participate wholeheartedly in selfless services. God is pleased with you. But you must work hard and study properly.' The young man beseeched, ‘Mama please, bless me that I pass the exams. With your blessings, I will certainly pass the exams. Please, have mercy on me.' The young man pleaded to Mama with deep reverence. Mama felt pity on the young man. He said, ‘All right, I will pray to God. What is your seat number in the exams?' The young man replied, ‘435.’ Mama went to the idol of Maharaj. He stood there with closed eyes for a few seconds. He blessed the young man and offered him sugar.

Days passed by. The young man was busy in serving. It was the day of results. The youngman had full faith in Mama’s words. He was sure that he was going to pass the exams. He went to college to check the results. He was not expecting more marks. Therefore, he looked for his number in pass class list. His number was not there, so he panicked. One moment he missed his heart beat. He remembered Mama. And he gathered courage. He checked further. He found that his number was in second class list. He was full of joy. He bowed down to Mama in his heart. Suddenly he had a flash of thought, He was curious, ‘What would be the result of seat number 435 in other classes?’ He checked up the lists of preparatory, first year and second year. For all the three years, seat number 435 had passed with second division.

He was amazed. The young man went to Mama. He bowed down to Mama. Mama asked, ‘Hello! you have passed, isn’t it?’ The young man was astonished. He said, ‘Mama, you know everything. I have passed because of your blessings only. I did not have the hopes of getting even passing marks. You have granted me second class.' Mama revealed, ‘You are a true devotee of God. You worship Him with great devotion and affection. Therefore, God has responded to your prayers.’

The young man replied, ‘I consider it as your prowess, Mama. I am totally amazed to find that seat number 435 of every year has passed in second class. None has failed.’ Mama said, ‘Once a Mukta intents, it rewards everyone. It is not restricted to only one person. The intent of an Anadimukta is so powerful.' The young man exclaimed, ‘Oh! Today I have realized that the intent of an Anadimukta is so powerful.’ The young man bowed down to Mama with gratitude and reverence. Mama was pleased and blessed him.
